DxTx Medical Acquires eCoil Line of Imaging Products from Bayer
PITTSBURGH, August 1, 2019 – DxTx Medical, a medical device manufacturer specializing in critical accessories that enable enhanced medical radiology applications, has acquired Bayer’s MR endorectal product line, which enables high-resolution imaging of the prostate, colorectal, cervix, and surrounding pelvis anatomy.
The transaction transfers the product line to DxTx Medical in a phased manner while DxTx Medical establishes its licensing and distribution infrastructure outside the U.S. With the first phase, effective August 1, DxTx Medical will manufacture and distribute for the U.S. market. Bayer will continue to support product sales to customers outside the U.S., marketed under the Medrad® eCoil brand, until August 31 (with the exception of the country of Italy, where the transition will take place September 30) at which time DxTx Medical will be responsible for product manufacturing and distribution globally. Customers outside the U.S. will receive more details from Bayer later this summer.
About the acquired MR Endorectal Coil
The acquired MR Endorectal coil provides a high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), which enables the sensitivity needed for multi-parametric and spectroscopy imaging, on 1.5 and 3.0T MRI scanners. The small field of vision and high spatial resolution images with the endorectal coil can assist the radiologist by delivering improved sensitivity and specificity in diagnosis and aid in treatment planning.
While this product has been in the global healthcare market for more than 20 years, DxTx Medical plans to invest in upgrading interface device capabilities for newer platforms of MRI scanners.
